The health tourism booms. Particularly dentures are increasingly in demand from German patients who can save significantly on these treatments. Unfortunately there are also many black sheep within this field. So you don’t get a nasty surprise, health tourism expert Eszter Jopp explains how to recognize a good dental clinic abroad.
Homepage:
Most of the providers advertise on the Internet. Make sure that the sites are written in good German, that they contain lots of information on the offered dental care and that they don’t seem „blatant”. Serious providers support their services with images and make in particular the resumes and the postgraduate trainings of the attending doctors available online. That way you can get an idea what to expect abroad.
Cost transparency:
The dental treatment should be supported with a clear cost structure. So stay away from „all-inclusive” offers, where you as patient have no idea how high the costs of the treatment and the travel costs are. Also beware of price pressure offers with alleged limited availability.
My tip: Ask ahead for a cost estimate and give yourself all the time you need to decide, or use a cheap „Meet-and-great” offer. Serious providers have nothing to hide.
Certifications:
Serious dental providers attach great importance to value and quality, just like you. The good ones are not shying away from tests and they submit themselves and their partner clinics to be certified by TEMOS abroad. TEMOS is a worldwide recognized certification system specifically for the hospital and dental sector. It doesn’t just describe the processes, it also evaluates the medical care, the pre- and aftercare in the homeland, the non-medical services such as the travel organization, the warranty management and the documentation and accounting with the insurance companies. A certification gives you therefore the guarantee that you really are in good hands.
Dentists abroad:
The attending dentists should be top trained, should speak German and should ideally have studied or even worked in Germany. It is always better if the dentists know how a treatment is carried out in Germany. A warranty for the materials used and for the treatment is obvious. You must insist on that.
My tip: Rather select a dental clinic than a single dentist. In a dental clinic specialist from different area of expertise work together hand-in-hand and they can carry out more complex treatments as well.
Domestic partner dentists
Make sure that the provider, that you choose, has partner dentists in Germany. These can take over a possible aftercare.
The experience of the provider
In the selection process put emphasis on many years of experience. The longer a dental provider is on the market abroad, the bigger its expertise is and the more secure you can get that it truly works seriously. Fortunately black sheep don’t stay long on the market.
My tip: There are providers with an all-round service. They help you with the booking of your travels and accommodation and organize excursions for you as well. Use your dental treatment abroad for a short holiday in the same time. I wish you success for your search after the right provider for your dental treatment abroad and lots of fun for your trip!
